6 “HEALTHY FOODS” YOU SHOULD NEVER EAT AGAIN

Have you experienced low energy levels? Or wondered why you’re not losing weight despite eating “healthy food”?

I’ve listed 6 foods that we believe are not that bad..

But experience shows that you need to remove them asap from your regular diet!

1. PROTEIN BARS

protein bars

These bars are often considered a healthy alternative to a candy bar. But they contain just as much if not more sugar!

If you’re trying to be fit and increase your metabolism, you would be disappointed to know what’s really in that protein bar. Emphasis is always given to the high number of grams of protein they contain but never really pointing to chemicals, additives and preservatives!

Better Alternatives: Make your own all-natural protein bars so you can have quality control.

2. SOY-BASED FOODS

soy based foods

There is much debate going on as to whether soybeans are a healthy replacement, like tofu for beef or chicken and soymilk for cow’s milk. There are causes for concern as soybeans are linked to breast cancer for example. As always, studies have been found to support both sides but I would rather play safe and steer away from soybeans!

Better Alternatives: Almond milk serves as a better replacement for both cow’s milk and soymilk.

3. CORN

corn

Corn is often viewed as a healthy food, but it’s becoming more common knowledge that corn is hugely genetically modified.

Farmers receive subsidies from their governments to include herbicides and pesticides right in. To keep it fresh on its way to your plate, the corn will then be sprayed with chemicals and preservatives !

Better Alternatives: Organic corn can be enjoyed on a healthy diet, and will be free of GMOs.

4. DRIED FRUITS

dried fruits

Seen as a healthy option because it is a fruit, we often not know that some dried fruits have added sugar and added preservatives! It is so easy to eat them in large amounts. Have you ever eaten one or two dried apricots at a time? Or was it more like a large handful? Which equals 5 or 6 whole apricots! You calories intake for the day would then be greatly affected.

Better Alternatives: Swap for fresh fruits because they contain fibers, try mangoes, bananas and apples!

5. WHITE RICE

rice

Who doesn’t like a good sushi roll or some veggies accompanied with rice? Studies have shown though that white rice might be not be the best option for you because it is just ‘empty calories” with little to no nutritional value. Opt instead for brown rice, it has more fiber, more protein and just more healthy nutrients overall. This extra protein and fiber could be just what you need to keep your weight loss moving.

Better Alternatives:  Swap for brown rice or quinoa.

6. SPORTS DRINKS

sports drinks

Sports drinks are advertised as a way to help your body recover fast after working out. They still enjoy huge popularity. However, many of these drinks contain nearly as much sugar than a soda ! Even the salt that is added to sports drinks has no natural electrolytes. It does only increase your sodium levels.

Better Alternatives: Opt for a veggie juice with some fruit.
